Maybe I should have known better as what to expect. This isn't the greatest area in Philadelphia, I'd probably avoid it if possible. To preface this point, the reception desk is walled off and protected by bulletproof glass. At least there was a security guard in the morning, I assume he was also there overnight. The carpeting, walls, and decor could use an update. I should have looked closer to the amenities, because they have no mini fridge or microwave. The one thing that I was looking for was the fitness center, which is on their amenities list. When I asked about it, one of the workers really didn't know what to say. His co-worker stumbled a bit and said "it is unavailable for maintenance". This gave me the impression that it has been in "maintenance" for a very long time. I couldn't find it and there was no signage. Leads me to believe that they got rid of it and never updated the posting. I travel a lot for work, as a general rule I always pull the bedspread cover and remove it from the bed. This cover smelled like pee. I take a lot of things in stride and I don't see how they would remedy it, based on everything else in the hotel. I figured anything else they replaced it with would also be dirty. I just sucked it up and ignored it. There was an empty ice tea bottle behind the TV stand. For some reason they have no additional wall outlets to plug in phone chargers or plug in my laptop to get some work done. I had to unplug some lamps and the clock to plug things in. When I left for the day to go on the job, I took my valuables with me. I didn't really trust leaving much there during the day.
