Lancaster General Hospital is ranked the fourth-best hospital in Pennsylvania among the best in the United States for several specialties, according to newly updated rankings from U.S. News and World Report. The Harrisburg region has several other top performers, with Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center ranked fifth best in Pennsylvania and UPMC Harrisburg Hospital ranked seventh, with each of those also deemed outstanding in various specialties. U.S. News and World Report intends the rankings as a guide for people who need specialized care for things like joint replacement, heart failure and cancer, or care for especially difficult or rare conditions.
